About the event
For more than 50 years, Shindig on the Green has brought the rich traditions of Southern Appalachian music and dance to the heart of downtown Asheville. Held on select Saturday evenings throughout the summer, this free community gathering features bluegrass, old-time string bands, clogging teams, ballad singers, storytellers, and informal jam sessions.
Hosted by the Folk Heritage Committee, Shindig on the Green celebrates the region's living mountain culture while welcoming visitors and locals alike. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, enjoy the music under the evening sky, and experience one of Asheville's most cherished summer traditions.
